This 10-minute spaghetti sauce is the perfect example of how much flavor you can get from simple ingredients. Only 7 ingredients are used in this sauce including salt and pepper, and everything you need to make this sauce you probably have in your pantry. I am so obsessed with this sauce that I make it at least once a week for lunch and my family and I demolish it every time. My toddler inhales it! This spaghetti sauce is fresh, flavorful and vibrant. It’s also easy to make, only requiring a quick cook of some fresh garlic and a pinch of red pepper flakes in olive oil, and then combining that with canned tomatoes and spices. This is a great recipe if you are in a rush or just really want a simple homemade spaghetti sauce that’s quick. I hope you love this recipe as much as my family and I do!

Ingredients
You will need Fresh Garlic – jarred garlic is okay if that’s all you have but I really encourage fresh garlic for this recipe, Red Pepper Flakes – just a pinch, Olive Oil – this should be the only oil used for this recipe, Canned Whole Tomatoes – you can use crushed if you prefer, White Sugar, Salt, Pepper and Fresh Parsley – parsley is only if you have it on hand, otherwise don’t worry about it.
For Littles
My toddler is absolutely obsessed with this tomato sauce. My daughter loves tomato sauce in general, so this recipe is always a go-to for her! I love to top her spaghetti with a little bit of Parmesan cheese. This is such a healthy sauce for your little ones and also a great way to make sure they’re getting their serving of carbs for the day. You can serve this to your littles 7 months+! I’ve been making this for my daughter since she was 7 months old.

How To

Cook the garlic, red pepper flakes and olive oil over medium heat for 3-4 minutes. Cook your pasta while you’re making the sauce.

Then add in your tomatoes and bring to a boil. Cover for 5 minutes. Using a masher, mash the tomatoes until they are crushed. Now add in the sugar, salt, pepper and parsley (if using).

Serve with the pasta!

minutesIngredients
3 garlic cloves minced
Pinch of red pepper flakes
2 tablespoons olive oil
1 24 oz can whole tomatoes * see notes
1/2 to 1 teaspoon sugar to taste
3/4 teaspoon salt
Freshly cracked black pepper
Directions
- Get the water boiling for your pasta so the pasta and sauce are done at the same time. Cook your pasta to your desired doneness or according to the box directions. Make sure you salt your pasta water well!
- In a medium-sized pot, throw in your garlic, red pepper flakes and olive oil. Place the pot on a burner over medium heat.
- Once you see the oil start to get hot, stir continuously for 3-4 minutes, until the garlic is lightly golden.
- Pour in your tomatoes and bring to a low boil. Turn the heat down to medium low, cover and let simmer for 5 minutes.
- Uncover and using a meat or potato masher, mash the whole tomatoes until there are no big tomato pieces and all the tomatoes are completely crushed. (If you are using crushed tomatoes instead of whole, you can skip this step).
- Add in your sugar, salt, pepper and parsley (if using). Stir and take off heat.
- Serve with the spaghetti noodles. You can top with Parmesan cheese and serve on its own or with garlic bread.
- You can store the sauce in an airtight container for up to 3 days or in the freezer for up to 3 months. Enjoy!:)
Notes
- * I use whole tomatoes and then mash them because I love the flavor of the whole tomatoes. However, feel free to use crushed instead and skip the step of mashing if it’s easier for you.
