These chocolate oat breakfast bars are rich in chocolate flavor, healthy and satisfying. These bars have no refined sugar and include all nutritious ingredients. They’re family, kid and toddler-friendly!

This recipe was inspired by the blog Something Nutritious’s chocolate oatmeal bars! I was wanting to create a chocolate breakfast bar of a sort that was healthy for my toddler and I to eat in the mornings. You combine all the ingredients in a bowl and bake for 20 minutes and they come out gooey and divine! Honey and peanut butter are used instead of refined sugars and I love to add in flax for an extra fiber boost. My toddler and I eat this in the mornings, but it also serves as a great snack or even dessert if you’re going for something on the healthier side! I hope you love this recipe as much as my toddler and I do!
Ingredients
You will need Peanut Butter – you can use almond butter, Honey – you can use maple syrup, Whole Egg – you can replace this with yogurt, Milk – any milk of your choice, Rolled Oats, Unsweetened Cocoa Powder, Ground Flaxmeal – optional and Mini Chocolate Chips – also optional.

For Littles
My toddler is not normally a picky eater, but when she goes through phases of pickiness, I need to be even more creative to make sure she gets all her nutrients. When she is in a picky phase, this is one of the recipes I make because it serves as breakfast and a snack! It tastes like chocolate but is full of fiber, protein and healthy fats. You can serve this to your little 12 months +! I say this because honey is not recommended until your little is at least 12 months of age. If you replace the honey with maple syrup, you can give to them 7 months+!

How To

In a big bowl, combine the peanut butter, honey and egg. Mix and then add the milk and mix again.

Add in the oats, cocoa powder, ground flax meal and chocolate chips (if using) and mix until combined.

Bake at 350 for 20 minutes.

Enjoy!:)
