This pear sauce is just like applesauce but made with pears and fall spices! The flavor is sweet and the texture is smooth. This a great recipes for babies, toddlers and kids!

My toddler and I love this Apple Sauce I make, but I love to switch it up and use pears instead! Pears are sweet like apples and also incredibly good for you; they’re very high in fiber like apples.

This pear sauce freezes well and is also delicious cold out of the fridge; although my toddler likes hers warmed up! This recipe is easy to double if you’d like to freeze more. I hope you love this recipe as much as my toddler and I do!

Ingredients

Pears – any kind of pear will work. I used Bartlett pears

Fresh Lemon Juice – adds some acidity

Water – adds some moisture when cooking

Ground Cinnamon – a warming fall flavor; also used traditionally in applesauce

Ground Ginger – just a 1/4 teaspoon adds to the fall flavor

For Littles

I make this with my toddler in mind, although I eat just as much pear sauce as she does! I would make this for her as a baby when she first stated solids. It’s a great puree for babies to start with. It’s sweet and tasty, but also high in fiber as well as vitamins C, K and A. You can serve this to your littles 6 months +!

How To

Throw all the ingredients in a medium sized pot and stir. Cover over medium/low heat for 20 minutes, stirring occasionally. Pears should be soft. Cook time will depend on how ripe your pears are

Blend in a blender and then enjoy!
