I like to feed my toddler food with lots of flavor and textures. But I think there is always room for simple foods and simple meals. Sweet potato puree is one I fed her in her first couple weeks of eating solids. Safe to say, she was a fan! Sweet potato puree is not only soft, but it’s rich and hearty. She’s 19 months old now, and I still serve it to her just as is! I also like to make sweet potato puree to use in other recipes. It’s great to use in quick breads, stews and sweets! It’s super handy and freezer friendly, too. You can double or triple this recipe to freeze. I hope you love this puree as much as we do!
Jump to RecipeBenefits of Sweet Potato
Sweet potatoes are high in fiber and antioxidants which support gut health and our immune system. They contain vitamin A, which supports our vision, and the skin of the potato has just as many nutrients. It’s a cancer-fighting superfood!
For Littles
Sweet potato puree was one of the first foods I fed Willow when she first started solids. I loved to add spices to it like cinnamon and cardamom. I also would mix breast milk into the sweet potato puree for extra nutrients and for a lighter texture! Feel free to add butter, milk or different spices . I started adding spices to Willow’s food when she was just 7 months old. You can serve this to your little one 6 months+!
