Turkey Nuggets

I have really been into making homemade chicken nuggets for me and my toddler. One night when I was preparing to make them, I opened the fridge to find I had bought ground turkey instead of ground chicken. So, I created turkey nuggets and I like them almost as much as I do chicken nuggets! The texture is chicken nugget-like, soft but crispy. And they’re even more delicious dipped in ketchup or BBQ sauce.

This is the perfect thing to make for a big family or make and freeze half of the batch if you’re just feeding one or two people. This batch makes 24, so I will make them for my toddler and I and freeze 12 of them.

For Littles

I love feeding these nuggets to my toddler. I know she’s getting a healthy dose of protein and it’s just a delicious and nostalgic food. They’re also incredibly easy for babies to eat because the meat is ground. You can serve these to your littles 7 months +!

This is how I serve it to my 14-month-old:

How To

Mix all the ingredients together, and form into nuggets.

Dip into bread crumbs and place on pan.

Bake and then serve warm!

Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground turkey

  • 3 tablespoons ketchup

  • 1 egg

  • 3/4 cup bread (torn into tiny pieces)

  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder

  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder

  • 1 teaspoon salt

  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper

  • 1/2 cup dried Italian breadcrumbs

Directions

  • Turn your oven on to 400 and line a large baking sheet with parchment paper.
  • In a large bowl, combine the ground turkey, ketchup, egg, bread, garlic powder, onion powder, salt and pepper. Gently with your hands, fold all the ingredients together until just combined.
  • Pour the Italian bread crumbs into a small bowl.
  • Form the ground turkey mixture into nugget shapes, making 24 nuggets. Dip each nugget into the bowl of Italian bread crumbs until the whole nugget is coated well. Once coated, place each nugget on the baking sheet.
  • Bake in the oven for 20-23 minutes, until the nuggets are golden brown.
  • Serve warm! I love to serve these with ketchup or BBQ sauce. You can store them in the fridge in an airtight container for up to 3 days. Or you can freeze them for up to 3 months in an airtight container. Enjoy!:)
