I have always had an obsession with cacao, and I try to add it to everything I can! I was especially excited to start giving it to my daughter because of all its amazing health benefits. I give my daughter yogurt every day, and so I thought why not make cacao yogurt? This recipe is creamy, tangy, and rich with a deep and natural cacao flavor. It has a pudding-like texture and is so delicious served with fruit. It’s an amazing snack to eat by yourself or make for your kiddos!

Cacao Benefits

I have been obsessed with cacao for years; not only because of its health benefits, but also because of the wonderful earthy and natural chocolate flavor.

Cacao vs Cocoa: Cacao is the unprocessed and unroasted cacao bean, whereas cocoa is from roasted beans. Cacao is raw and is considered a whole food.

The benefits of cacao are endless, but most notably are the amounts of antioxidants it contains as well as its amount of theobromine, which is a natural compound considered to be good for the heart, respiration, inflammation and more!

For Littles

The known health benefits of cacao can leave you feeling good about letting your little ones indulge; however, because cacao has some caffeine in it, I would wait until your little is 12 months +!

This is how I serve it to my 12-month-old:

How To

Mix the yogurt, cacao and maple syrup together.

Serve cold with fruit!

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup whole milk yogurt

  • 2 tablespoons cacao powder

  • 3 teaspoons pure maple syrup

Directions

  • In a bowl, using a rubber spatula, combine the yogurt, cacao powder and maple syrup until combined. It may take up to 2 minutes or so for it to become fully mixed together!
  • If you would like it sweeter, feel free to add additional maple syrup.
  • Serve with fruit. I love it especially with strawberries! This can be stored in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days. Enjoy!:)
