This slow cooker honey garlic chicken is sweet, savory and satisfying. It’s the perfect recipe to make when you want something flavorful but easy to prepare.

Slow cooker recipes are my absolute favorite for two reasons: the slow cooker does not heat up the house (perfect recipes for summer) and they are prepared ahead so that dinner time is a breeze.

My toddler used to not be a big fan of chicken, but ever since I started slow cooking chicken, it’s the first thing she eats on her plate! This sauce is flavorful and the chicken is incredibly tender. The sauce is full of delicious asian flavors and becomes sticky and thick to coat the chicken.

You simply mix up the sauce ingredients, pour it over chicken thighs and cook for 4-5 hours. You add in cornstarch to thicken and then serve over rice! I love to make this for dinner, but if you have time earlier in the morning, you can start the slow cooker to have it done in time for lunch. I hope you love this recipe as much as my family and I do!

And of course, my dog Archie wanted a few bites!

Ingredients

You will need Boneless Skinless Chicken Thighs – chicken thighs are best for the recipe because of how tender they get, Honey, Soy Sauce, Ketchup, Hot Sauce, Rice Wine Vinegar, Fresh Garlic and Cornstarch.

For Littles

My toddler has never been a huge chicken eater. Not until I started slow cooking chicken, then she LOVED it. She loves this chicken so much that she kept yelling “More chicken!!!” over and over again until I gave her another serving. Chicken is such an amazing protein source for our little ones, so I am all for her loving it! You can serve this to your little 12 months + due to honey not being recommended for littles under 12 months of age.

How To

Combine all the sauce ingredients in a measuring cup and mix. Place the chicken thighs in the slow cooker and pour sauce over the chicken. Using tongs, toss the chicken in the sauce until coated. Cook on low for 4-5 hours.

Open the slow cooker and pour in the cornstarch. Mix until combined. Then tear the chicken apart.

Servings 8 servings

Ingredients

  • 5-7 boneless skinless chicken thighs
  • 1/2 cup honey
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 1/4 cup ketchup
  • 1 teaspoon hot sauce (or more for more spice)
  • 1 tablespoon rice wine vinegar
  • 3 cloves minced garlic
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch

Instructions

  • In a small measuring cup, combine the honey, soy sauce, ketchup, hot sauce, rice wine vinegar and garlic. Mix together.
  • Place the chicken thighs in the slow cooker and pour the sauce over. Using tongs, flip the chicken so all sides of the chicken are coated.
  • Cover the slower cooker and cook on low for 4-5 hours, until the chicken is done.
  • Take the lid off and add the the tablespoon of cornstarch and mix right in. The chicken will start to pull apart as you do this and the sauce will start to thicken.
  • After the cornstarch is combined, pull apart the chicken however much more you want.
  • Serve over white, brown or fried rice. You can store in an alright container in the fridge for up to 3 days or in the freezer for up to 3 months. Enjoy!:)
