This cinnamon sage tomato sauce is a fall-inspired tomato sauce to make with spaghetti or meatballs. This tomato sauce is full of warm spices like cinnamon and sage and is comforting and satisfying to eat. It’s toddler and kid friendly, too.

I love to use seasonal produce in staple recipes I make to mix things up and really get into the current season. This recipe does just that as I am using fall-inspired ingredients to make this tomato sauce! I originally got this tomato sauce idea from Joy Bauer who made this recipe on The Kitchen (I watch this show religiously). I made it my own and now I make it when fall rolls around.
This tomato sauce has olive oil, a little yellow onion, crushed tomatoes, canned pumpkin, fresh sage, cinnamon, dried oregano, garlic powder, sugar, salt, pepper and some chicken broth. You sauté the onions and then throw it together in a pot and cook on a low simmer for 15 minutes. It’s so easy!
I love to make this sauce with spaghetti or even make it to pour over my Chicken Pumpkin Meatballs. This sauce is freezer-friendly. I hope you love this recipe as much as we do!

Ingredients
You will need Olive Oil, Yellow Onion – a little finely chopped onion is so good in this, Crushed Tomatoes– I have used whole tomatoes and it works well too, Pumpkin Puree – adds a nice richness, Fresh Sage, Cinnamon – a nice warming spice, Dried Oregano, Garlic Powder, Sugar – just a pinch if needed, Salt, Black Pepper and Chicken broth – veggie broth also works.
For Littles
This is a delicious and healthy sauce to make for your littles! This recipe has tons of added spices and flavor without it being overpowering. Cinnamon helps lower blood sugar, pumpkin contains an incredible amount of fiber and tomatoes are full of antioxidants. What’s not to love!? You can serve this to your little ones 7 months +!
